Suicidal Night Trophy 2009

Our Schwarzwolf team, Veronika and Martin, took part in 11th Night Orienteering Mountain Bike Race: The Suicidal Night Trophy 2009. The race took place in tough and challenging conditions of Vysočina in Czech Republic.

Total race-course measured 65 km in the area where normal people usually go hiking and do so in the daylight. Total superelevation of a road was 1830 metres. Maps were allowed and the local tourist signs remained in place – these were only means of orientation (or disorientation). Use of GPS equipment was banned.

The biggest impediments were dark night, mud, rocks and loss of orientation. Our team rode 77 km altogether. The time of 11hours and 57 minutes was good enough for ice twelfth place in our category.
