Just in time for the 2009 gift giving season arrives the latest addition to our Schwarzwolf Outdoor product line – the ceramic knife Schwarzwolf Zirkon.
Ceramic knives blades are made out of very hard ceramic – zirconium oxide (ZrO2). This is a material much harder than stainless steel. The knives are light, do not require sharpening for several years, do not rust and are easy to clean.

Here are few answers to most frequently asked questions about ceramic knives:
Can ceramic knives be resharpened ?
Yes, but sharpening the blade requires a diamond sharpening wheel.
Can a ceramic knife break ? It is ceramic after all.
Yes, the knives are at risk of damage if dropped, thrown or used in improper way.
What is that improper use that can damage the knife ?
For example cutting into the bones can chip off pieces of the blade, flexing or prying can break off the tip or even bigger part of the blade. Cutting on marble or stone or ceramic surfaces (plates for example) may also damage the blade.
Any tips how to make the best use of ceramic knife?
As mentioned earlier ceramic knife works great for slicing boneless meats, fruits and vegetables. The knife is sage to use with common plastic or wooden cutting boards.
Is the ceramic knife dishwasher safe ?
It is better not to clean them in dishwasher. Ceramic knives are very easy to clean the old fashion way.
